Haiku of the Month
arriving
a blossom petal
hitches a ride on my shoe
-Melissa Dennison, UK
Wow! I never expected this when I hit send, I have to say. And it is a great honour, especially since The Wee Sparrow Nook is quite selective, only choosing a handful of haiku each month to publish. This is a humorous verse as you can probably tell. This is something that I enjoy writing. I have been thinking about the role of lightness in haiku, which is as we know central to this poetic form. This is what is known as karumi, and for more information on this then follow this link: Graceguts - Laughing with Karumi
Is it a haiku or a senryu though? Perhaps this like so much in haiku is open to interpretation. ;)
